We may be growing larger, but at heart we are and always will be  a boutique catering service, focused on the needs and personality of our clients, and dedicated to providing unique and special touches. We delight in creatively brainstorming with our clients and customizing menus and tablescapes. We want each event we cater to be different, memorable and to uniquely reflect YOU! Our owner, Deborah, is very hands on, attending all client planning meetings and working directly with bridal couples and corporate clients.

If you order a buffet for your Wedding Reception or Event, we provide plated service to your head table! It gives you a chance to relax and eat while your guests are going through the buffet line.

We have been awarded the “Couples Choice” award from Wedding Wire numerous years, which is awarded to the top five percent of wedding vendors in the country along with  “Best of The Knot.” This year, we received both 2016 Best of the Knot and Wedding Wire “Couples Choice” for 2016!

We Work With Your Budget

An important step is staying at or below the budget you have identified. We use creative solutions to help you stay within the budget you set for your event. Our pricing is simple and straightforward. That is why our prices are always published, but remember. . .we are there to assist you with creative solutions to stay within your budget.  There is a $4,000.00 Minimum for our Weddings because of the limited Weddings we take and that one on one time that our bridal couples spend planning directly with our owner.

Fresh and Homemade is the Key!

All of our food is made from scratch down to our homemade sauces, dressings and the croutons that top our freshly washed and chopped salad. We don’t take any shortcuts and we guarantee you will taste the difference!  We make every effort to use local, sustainable and organic products and to use them creatively. Our plan our menus with a seasonal emphasis, and often add new items with each new season.

We have a great team that really enjoys working together. Many of our professional staff have been with us since the creation of Shining Stars, but as we have grown, we have added some exceptional team members. We share a common goal of providing the best client service in Kansas City and go the extra mile to make sure that your events go smoothly. Our dedicated team, from our Chefs and prep crew, to our on site supervisors, to our wait staff, office personnel and marketing team, are here to make sure that your experience with our company is exceptional. Our Shining Stars employees REALLY shine!!!!

We Give Back. . .

For the many blessings that have been bestowed on us personally and professionally, we are dedicating to giving back to our community in a variety of ways. Whether it is donating food to a community fundraiser or school benefit, teaching Culinary Classes to Special Needs Adults or volunteering our time and energy to Special Olympics or Scouting, we want to make our community a better place and are actively involved in fundraising for worthy causes in our community!

We Are Green!

We Have Adopted “Green” Practices in our Business

We use sustainable and local resources when possible, only use ECO biodegradable products, collect and donate all food waste to Urbavore Farm for their composting program and only use real plating for everything except drop off events, unless requested by the client. Creating Memories. . .

This is Marvin (my husband) and I with Chef Robert Irvine from the Food Network Show, Restaurant Impossible. Shining Stars Catering was proud to cater breakfast, lunch and dinner during the week of August 6-9 for their cast and crew during the filming for an episode featuring a Kansas City Restaurant, Poco’s.  The picture was taken (by Robert’s daughter, Annalise, on the final night of filming at the Big Reveal! :) The episode is currently airing on The Food Network.
